What Pakistan Sign Lang stores, and what it deliberately does not.
This page describes what the application currently does with data. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a reviewed privacy policy. It needs to be checked by someone qualified before this application is deployed anywhere it handles real student data at scale or on any paid footing.
This is the most important thing on this page. When you practise a sign, the video from your camera is processed entirely inside your own browser. MediaPipe finds the position of your hand, and a small model running through ONNX Runtime classifies it. Both run locally, on your machine.
No video, no images, and no hand positions are uploaded to any server. The only thing that is ever saved is the result: whether a sign was recognised, and what a test scored.
A note on profile photos: they are stored as base64 text directly inside the account document in Firestore, rather than in a separate file store. That works, but it means the photo is part of the same record as the rest of the profile.
The cognitive analysis feature combines a teacher's answers to a questionnaire with lesson and test progress. The result is a summary intended to help a teacher notice patterns and decide where to focus next.
It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis, it is not a clinical assessment, and it should never be used as one. It has not been validated against any clinical instrument.
Where this application is used with children or with students who cannot give informed consent themselves, consent should be obtained from a parent or guardian before an account is created. Schools using it should tell guardians what is recorded, which is the list above, and make clear that camera video is not part of it.
An account and everything saved under it can be removed on request. Contact the project team or the institute.
